All Borges questions were answered by reading much more Borges.

"The Immortal" compares interestingly with "The Wanderings of Oisin," my favorite Yeats poem (maybe tied with "Meru" - which is not far off from the story either).

When you read things over it's strange what sticks out - "Death and the Compass" was kind of drab to me, while "The Circular Ruins" left me awed, and I think those were close to the most and least impressive, respectively, last time round. Sometimes you spend these things without knowing, sometimes they've changed in the dark.
