Periodic amazon(s) check:

Into the War has finally been translated into English - three autobiographical stories about Calvino's youth. It's available from amazon.co.uk as of November.

Murakami's 19Q4 and Saramago's Cain both come out this tuesday. It'll be fun to hand her both at once.

Saramago's Raised from the Ground seems to be a mirage so far, as are Calvino's Selected Letters. Mariner Press is bringing back the hard to find Manual of Painting and Calligraphy as a paperback next May.

Volume 3A of the Longman Shelley's out.

No word yet on Esther Allen's selection from Casares' Borges diaries or Professor Borges, a reconstruction of his lectures from various student notes and memories.

We just watched Samurai I and won't be watching the sequels. Totally worthless, even Mifune was uninteresting. Samurai Rebellion held our attention but that was about it - minus Kurosawa the whole genre is apparently lame. Ah well.
