Picked up the final volume of Penguin's five new Borgeses. Among all of these there's less than 200 pages of new material, making this a pretty lame relaunch. Dividing up Borges by topic is pretty silly, too--how much did he write that couldn't be assimilated under "On Writing"?

Didn't even notice Library of America had put out a 2-volume, 2000 page selection from Emerson's journals a couple months ago. If only they'd had Bloom do it...but presumably with such a large proportion of the whole it includes nearly everything he'd have. I've read around in the journals a lot but the entirety always defeated me; this sounds like the exact right compromise.

How do you stay tuned in to what's being published?
Is there a site you visit?

Best way tends to be to go to amazon, search by author name (in quotes), then arrange by most recent publication date. Shows you the future publications, if there are any. I only follow a handful of living and a double handful of translated authors, the only ones for whom new titles matter much, so that's not too time-consuming.

But the Library of America website stays updated fairly well--I think that's where I saw the Emerson.
