Steve King tried to use Europe as an example of how "any" population needs to hit the replacement rate and curtail immigration in order to "preserve its way of life." But goes on to say that "we need to get our birth rates up or Europe will be entirely transformed," indicating that his example of how this is true of any population was in fact about just one population. Not that we didn't know that he meant that, or know that anyone believing that is likely to be dumb enough to accidentally say so, or that a cable news interviewer would somehow be able to miss that. But sometimes one can't help marveling afresh at what one knows.
