And he guided Hurley to the crazy numbers guy somehow, and then out of the asylum somehow so that the numbers could be used.
The bomb frees the bizarre energy from beyond space and time rather than destroying it (maybe). Therefore I'd say it helps Jacob, assuming Facob is the normal Earth demiurge. But this can so easily be reversed using Lost Writing (tm).
