He never got another dog after our last dachshund, Emily, died because he said the heartbreak wasn't worth it. This is not a choice you have with your father.
I miss him more than you should be able to miss anything. I mean that in the sense that I never could have guessed this feeling exists, but also in the sense that it simply should not happen.
Anyone who thinks there's such a thing as a life cycle doesn't know much about life.
