Can't get that obscene "prison girls" chant out of my head, after several days. I liked it so much reading it that I said it aloud, only then realized. Something about the rhythm, the repetitions. It's totally a girls' chant, too, needs that cheerleader effect. Tranquil clipped ritualized yelling. Definitely some gum in there too. Is it known for sure Joyce came up with it himself?
