Blood Meridian and Woman in the Dunes were the best discoveries, followed closely by All the Pretty Horses and Confessions of an English Opium-Eater. Among rereads, Whitman's Song, Melville's stories and "My Kinsman, Major Molineux" made me completely happy.
Atkins' Faust may be exact, but it's rather drab.
Best of the very few movies seen in 2006 would include Napoleon Dynamite, Brick, Munich. Best rewatch: Scenes from a Marriage again. NB: Bresson's Pickpocket is terrible, as is that ghost story movie directed by the Sansho guy.
