Thinking of that Borges quote got me thinking of his attack on fascism et al. in Tlon, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius, which I've just reread. It may have been the first story of his I ever read--I believe it heads up Labyrinths. Completely disquieting how well it reads as an attack on assorted bullshit schools of thought I now have to deal with daily, and at least for this academic year help transmit. Also disquieting was his ambiguous implication of common cause between (anti-ism) realists and Christians--I do think his translation of "divine" as "inhuman" proves he's at least not the latter. I guess I'll have to finally read Urn-Burial to see what's what. Has any other literary work ever ended with an ad for another one?
