Nov. 10th, 2008 11:29 amA year ago I read "Howl" through for the first time, and disapproved of it on principle but found it rather moving. Today I love it--not like I love the other ones, the right ones, but I love it. Has something changed, this past year? The conviction that one must be adult been changed for the knowledge I am and who'd care to be? It makes mistakes, reflects worse ones, but so what. Among sadder things, it's all of Baudelaire's advice rewritten by someone taking all the advice of Baudelaire at once.
