Apr. 24th, 2014 01:17 amJulie and I both felt the road trip in Mad Men 7.2 uncannily caught something of what it was like in our early childhoods - smelled like the 70s, as it were. Not sure why it was able to do this any better than various things set or filmed then. Perhaps it didn't and we were just shocked by the sudden intrusion into its fake fishbowl world of recognizable twigs and dirt. Or that that show about the negligible Past had been walking so long it finally reached a place we remember Present-Tensing in, hence either that it's not so past and negligible or that we too will be, or are, or were. Yeah, maybe the latter - best way to sneak up on someone is to openly let them know you will and then do it so slowly they assume you'll never reach them.
