Aug. 18th, 2014 01:57 pmWe've reached the season 3 finale, though fell asleep after climbing up to its knee.
Julie, for whom the original airing was one of the greatest moments of her life, easily eclipsing her mother's second wrdding the next day, this time found the lumberJackflash cheap, out to do nothing but trick us. There's ill-suppressed Lindelovian giddy glee, that much is true. She found this offensive at the coffin scene, though ("whooooo's in that coffiiiin"), exactly when I was rather touched. I think this was the first time I've seen it knowing who's really in it, and how sad that makes the scene. Probably sadder because the character's retroactively unruined: not overly retconned, not having shifted personality annoyingly a whole bunch of times to fit plot needs, not overexposed or having faded from actorly weariness.
And sure, fine, the Razor phone's cheap, it's all cheap, but only like the favors from the best surprise party ever are cheap the next day.
Speaking of dated phone bits Naomi's radio one is just hilarious now. They did a great job of bullshitting Next Year's Phone into existence but now it's clearly junkier than anything ever sold. More ancient than Bell's. With the same silly animated swish each time they show it. Because that probably cost them half a mil.
