Do we each assume we're near the sorry tail? I sure do.
It strikes at any time.
You sometimes hear its hiss. Though you more often remember having heard it.
What's worst are worries that you missed it entirely.
That it's always happening and only becomes loud enough for your ears now and then.
Or, maybe worst of worst: that it hissed only in your head.
It's hard to suck more suddenly than that.
