i've seen that thought put forth throughout the web (as well as, in part, some of my own thoughts, now that i'm looking around). i didn't pay attention, but people are saying he wasn't wearing it in any of the top level scenes. i'm not so sure that means it was his totem (all of the other totems were game pieces/toys (top, die, pawn, poker chip); i think it's quite possible that like the mals below, its presence is a product of his subconscious desire to still be married, or simply a deliberate affectation.
