It isn't that life is itself good, but life can become good, or, under certain circumstances, be made good.

It isn't that life is itself good, it's just the only thing that can be, in all the world, ever.

Furniture: Always fear the worst for your furniture.

Driving home from the gym I found myself thinking about one of my SAT students. She could get over a 700 in the writing/reading sections, but isn't interested. I was thinking about how to possibly talk to the dad about that, about what might make her interested, and suddenly realized that I was completely absorbed, and totally happy.

And then I thought about all the other times I've been completely happy, and how basically ephemeral it tends to be.

I thought about all the categories of things I tend not to be thinking about when I feel life is good. The whole thing is basically summed up by the entry for furniture in Flaubert's Dictionary.

Reminds me of a song my wife listens to over and over, about sunscreen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTJ7AzBIJoI

In and of itself? In itself? Itself?
