(no subject)

I am of those who like to stay late at the cafe.

With all those who do not want to go to bed. With all those who need a light for the night.

"Of" becoming "with" - amazing. I remembered the story, we all do, but that I forgot.

On one of my father's emergency room visits the ER doctor was delighted to be treating an English professor, wanted to talk to him about how A Clean Well-Lighted Place had changed him and sent him to med school, how he liked to think he was doing what the waiter did.

Obviously the insomnia aspect piques my interest too, but Hemingway's talking about the variety he describes in Now I Lay Me, a story just as amazing. A different sort of can't, a nada sort.

And yet in an earlier-set story Nick reads beneath a nightlight in the hall.

What a world it must've been where cafes let you stay late... where you don't have bored teenagers making faces at you to get out so they can close the shift.

There's pretty much such a teenager in the story.

O hej, and of course here it is. Hello. What about this month would bring up Hemingway.
