He basically said it's unimportant if you're an atheist so long as you're nice. Which is about the nicest thing a pope can say to atheists while still being a pope.
Dunno if this means he'll ever make any sensible changes re. women, celibacy, LGBTs, condoms, stem cells, abortion but he at least doesn't sound like the last guy.
Weird. Not sure what to make of that. Receiving a nod from the head of an organization that's morally somewhere between the KKK and the mafia is kind of like getting a gift card full of Zimbabwean dollars. Even a truckload would mean nothing. Historically interesting, though.
