I think the about obsolescence of friendships, lately. Of particular friendships. A few people have dropped me in my time here in Seattle, and lately I've dropped someone. Or two, two someones. The protocols are much stranger than they are with romantic relationships.
Sometimes people tell me it's something about Seattle; friendship is cheap in Seattle, or whatever. I never know how to respond to generalizations about "this city," have never known, in any city I've lived in. I've lived lots of places, but the only way I could compare would be to have been the same person in all those places. Which I wasn't.
Well, I've discussed this to a fare-thee-well. Fare thee well.
