The moon kicked him to the bottom of the ocean and then dove after him to bodyslam, cracking the world in two and destroying itself in the process. The bits of flaming Earth shell bonked into one another and ground away to debris over the ensuing weeks. Venus was knocked wobbly by the catastrophe, altering its gas balance such that its color was duller for nearly eight years. The sun didn't notice.
