Poets I admire greatly but don't always feel entirely at home with:
Milton Shakespeare Dante Homer Holderlin
Blake Whitman Keats Baudelaire Tennyson
Montale Rilke Valery Lorca Neruda
Stevens Yeats Ashbery Crane Warren

Wish I could think of five more, for symmetry.

Hmm. Pessoa.

Maybe Byron still. Although with him I feel quite at home but admire him moderately. Likewise with Borges' verse.

Eliot for a few pieces.

Volunteers....

Horace? Virgil? Pushkin? Chaucer? Dryden? Pope? Clare? Merrill?

Dryden and Clare I love just scraps of...Pope and Pushkin are in the Byron category, always good and seldom great. Horace also, but much less fun. Virgil I haven't made the full effort on. Chaucer I flat out dislike. Merrill's poems I'm not hot on either, on the basis of The Book of Ephraim and anthologized short pieces. Clearly he was a real nice guy, there's just no pull there for me.
