Sorry for the sneak-spoilers, though I don't think I say anything here you wouldn't pick up on by the end of the pilot - or after hearing the premise summarized.
I'm never criticizing the show itself, which is close to flawless after some tiny first season speedbumps. Lindelof just has a way of simultaneously using it to talk about Lost, where, hilariously, his points are usually as dead right about the new show's topic (broadly loss/religion) as they're Dershowitz-level sleazy-wrong as a Lost defense. Quite possibly I hallucinate a lot of that added layer, but it's a very entertaining hallucination, to me.
It's just a 28 hour sink and you'd like it. It has its act together to a degree where it seems clear Lindelof spent 2010-14 watching Breaking Bad on a loop while crying. Formally speaking it's a shockingly successful act of contrition. And there's some literary stuff...
