We are made to live in life, not practice imagined modes of being in imaginary places.
Imagining, though, is an action of those made to live in life. It is the living of life apart from life, or in the wrong part of life.
And since living in life is something we're made to try to succeed at, not something already mastered, there is imagining in the action of living. You aren't quite looking at the map to find the theater, you're imagining yourself doing this based on imperfect, if broadly reliable, indications that you are. The living of life takes place within imagining.
Which doesn't mean you can imagine any life you like. You can sketch such a life, but imagining is more than a sketch.
Which doesn't mean you can imagine living the life you're really living. Imagining isn't that much more than a sketch.
But which does mean what helps you imagine can help you live.
