So the plot elements still in play are:

Desmond, immune to the magical version of electromagnetism, is gathering the spur-universe versions of people from the original flight for reasons unclear to us. Only he can defeat UnLocke.

Jack, having drunk magical spellwater, is the designated protector of magical electromagnetic light not far from where he woke up in the show's first episode. Jacob is still around to advise him in this until his embers burn out.

UnLocke has promised Ben the island if he helps him kill everyone. Ben may or may not be ready to. He either killed Widmore because he likes killing Widmore or to stop UnLocke from learning what was being readied against him.

Richard got powed offscreen but is immortal.

Miles is in the jungle with a walkytalky, where Ben sent him. Presumably Ben will want to talk to the ghost of his daughter, who Richard buried near Otherton/Dharmaville.

Kate and Hugo and Sawyer are kind of standing there. Sawyer feels responsible for the deaths of Sun and Jin. They're not mourning for Sayid for some reason, almost as though they realize he's probably still alive because went off-screen before the explosion and he's now some kind of pool zombie. No one cares about Jeff Fahey, not one bit, not ever.

Why UnLocke cannot kill candidates is unclear. Probably this isn't because they're physically related to Jacob.

My jaded predictions:

1. At the beginning of the episode UnLocke will tell Ben he has business to take care of and go meet Jacob for a last time, and they'll talk and Jacob will apologize and say it's not too late and UnLocke will be obdurate and turn into smoke and blow out Jacob's embers by stirring up air currents.

2. First he'll cruelly tell him about this one time their stepmother told him she loved him way better because only one baby born on the island was needed to discharge her obligation and she'd thought she could foist everything off on Jacob and run off with this other child of her own and have a real life weaving really slowly in Phoenicia.

3. Ben will meanwhile have Miles do a seance with his horribly annoying dead daughter and she'll tell him to be nice and he'll cry and change his ways.

4. They might even have this happen through the walky-talkies at a key moment where Ben is about to kill some good guys and then he'll pull a last minute Samwise/Gurgi/Darth Vader grenade-covering sacrifice.

5. UnLocke will find the good guys and threaten Kate to get Jack to capitulate, since her name was crossed out and she is therefore no longer protected by Jacob's magic chalk spell.

6. Sawyer will sacrifice himself to stop him from hurting Kate, because he's in guilty mode and the writers assume all us Tiger Beat readers want Jack to end up with Kate.

6a. He might merely try to and then seem to die but oh look he's alive there (maybe Ben will beat him to the grenade), so Kate still has a love interest if Jack decides to stay on the island at the end.

6b. But then Hugo might say, no wait, I'll stay so I can be with the ghost of Libby, what with all the ghosts, and Jack and Kate will go remarry or whatever and Sawyer will go back to dead.

7. After the sacrifice drama happens Desmond will show up with the real John Locke and 5-150 other people from an alternate dimension and either (7a.) stop that one nuclear explosion or (7b.) walk into the center of UnLocke's smoke-cloud and smoosh the magic lima bean in the middle--or whatever that Japanese guy's knife was supposed to hit. Maybe he does both things.

8. Alternate Claire will have her alternate Aaron, and it will turn out he's immortal because he was successfully born on the island so all of this watching can be his problem. First he must be raised, though. Alternate Claire will die so that Kate can do that--free Aarons for all!

9. At no point will it be satisfactorily explained why a cave full of magical electromagnetic light is what keeps all life going.

10. There will be some kind of lesson about making your own destiny, not blindly obeying supposed authorities or the dictates of your own guilt-baggage.

11. Jack's freaky son will have meanwhile proved to be some kind of demon put in charge of watching the alternate dimension. He will eat the alternate Jack. Only Jeff Fahey will care.

12. Ben's lost love will show up and say, "Remember me?"

13. Zombie Sayid will propose to her at the Chinese Restaurant in the forest. They will marry at Club Silencio. Richard will be best man.

I was enjoying it immensely and then at Club Silencio I laughed aloud.

Thanks for this.

What I'd REALLY like to see is some kind of community project where we work out at least the plot of a parody ep. And be we, I mean all these Lost-admirers on my friendslist, olly-olly-oxenfree.
