Turned 29, got the Longman v.2, am loving Little, Big though no longer sure where it's going. Haven't wanted a book to go on forever like this since Moby-Dick in 2003. Strange, lovely state of ultimate trust between author and reader. I've resolved to buy all cheap copies I run across hereforward, for distribution among the deserving.

Bon Anniversaire!

Was it today or yesterday? Just curious, since a certain favorite Victorian poet of mine happened to be born today.

p.s. I trust your literary judgment (and here I thought I was the only other person under 30 who never wanted Moby Dick to end), and you've certainly convinced me to go find myself a copy of Little, Big . . .

It was the 2nd actually, shared with Zola, Hans Christian Andersen, and Alec Guinness. And Paglia if I remember correctly. (5th was Swinburne, if I remember.)

I wonder how many I have to put onto Little, Big before I earn my own fairy wings?

April is the coolest month.

HA! That's brilliant.

Yes, Swinburne's birthday is today (the 5th). And Baudelaire this week - on April 9th.
