Had to pause from shoveling after an hour so as not to catch pneumonia. Can't remember having had to deal with so much snow, and in such cold. And it's getting hard to find a place to put the shoveled snow, the accessible parts of the lawn were covered in sharply sloped piles even before last night. Woman in the Dunes is what it felt like, with the clumps rolling back down around your feet - and there really are dunes, where the new snow fell on the piles of old snow! Genuine Sahara dunes, topped with tapering wind-lines.

It looked like a lot less than it was early this morning because there were no indications of where the ground was under it. Though I guess that's as likely to lead you to overestimate the snow's height? This confirms me an optimist. If disappointment is a form of suffering, pity the optimists.

Also I see my car's getting covered up again. Some stalwart's still at it. Scrup scrup.
