I can't remember if Aristophanes represents Socrates as schizo, in The Clouds? Plato may be addressing that too, if so, by implying Socrates knows he's fibbing.

Yes, though he does complain about it a bit in the Apology. On trial for his life based on his reputation, and all. But of course the interesting thing is the Apology is written so much earlier than the Symposium.
