Homeland is surprisingly bad. Just a slower 24 with breasts. We're only not giving up because Claire Danes' gawky overemoting is hilarious.

It's not so much happiness to hear that as a weird kind of relief? My former boss writes on that show, and for all that I tended to disagree with her choices about what people are like, I thought she consistently wrote with great sucker-punching heart and economy, and so when I heard good things about it I credited as being a show I would like more than, say, The Killing.

Having left tv, and being naturally inclined to be hard on myself, it's easy to assume that all my former colleagues are basically writing The Wire now. I don't naturally assume they're now working on stuff I wouldn't like (thus being glad to be gone), Aesop's fox (no grapes) be damned.

it's good to know this. it was somewhere down my list of things to try, but 24 is very much not my thing.
