Managed to avoid reading Bourdieu till now. He inevitably reminded me of Crowley's In Blue, which demolishes field/cloud theory using pretty much the same amazing nudge as Borges performs in The Congress to kiss to death any activist Hegelianism. Among which Bourdieu's "sociology" can maybe be categorized? Couldn't tell from the two essays assigned.

I imagine he was a nice enough guy, despite making and perpetuating a destructive and pretty basic mistake. I did like his insistence that Foucault was a structuralist and essentialist. Thinking of Foucault's fury at the charge (if he lived to hear it) amused me, though I admit it's unfair in a couple senses.

What are you reading, and what are the mistakes that he makes?

I liked Outline of a Theory of Practice. I am less fond of Distinction, though I think it's actually the American reception of Distinction that's the real problem.

When do you hear about your exam, by the way?

No wonder you're anonymous - entering the ranks of the privileged an' all!

Yippee! Same guy the examiner?

Yep, same trio.

Sorry, comment screening for anonyms seems to have turned itself on.
