Film club proposal:

Anyone who feels like it is in.

We'll each nominate one movie we'd like to watch and talk about.

Then we'll each vote for one movie other than the one we nominated. You can vote before nominations are over. You can change your vote.

Most voted for movie we'll all watch. If there's a tie the one with the highest numeric value of the third letter of its title wins (a=1, z=26). If that letter's the same we'll go by the fourth letter etc.

You can't say I'm not ready for ties.

Then at some agreed upon date - two weeks from when the movie's settled on? - we'll post about it, either separately or in comments.

Any of the above suggestions can be revised or thrown out by anyone with a better or worse idea.

I nominate Late Spring by Ozu. It's on Hulu Plus and I think I noticed it on YouTube a while back.

I am thinking about possibilities...

Also, as you can see from the emoticon I added next to the subject line here, I'm unhappy that I now have a choice of emoticons to add next to the subject line here.

I'm in and I second all of your ideas.

Have you seen Late Spring already, or should we nominate works we haven't watched before?

I haven't seen it, but I don't see why we can't nominate stuff we've seen.

Well, I'd certainly like to talk about Stalker in some detail with you intelligent folks. Also - Geoff Dyer wrote an entire book about the movie, which I would also like to discuss (I haven't read it yet, but I am sure it is good).

I think I'm in! (Funny: Film Forum here in Manhattan is having an Ozu-fest this month, but I missed seeing Late Spring. So, yeah.)

I'm in. I've never watched any Ozu films. Um... I'll post again later today.

I forgot about the rule about voting for a movie we didn't nominate. I'll change mine. Should we build a community for the club or do you want to host it on your journal?

Pro of a community would be not having to be host, con is that club type communities tend to die after a few weeks.
