So according to iTunes the ten most downloaded songs right now include a same sex marriage anthem, a collaboration I really love between you'd-have-thought-chart-allergic Daft Punk and the co-creator of bad taste masterpieces "Rump Shaker" and "Hot in Here," a collaboration I really do not love between that guy and the son of the father from Growing Pains that's in even worse taste and seems confused about the concept of rhyme, a declaration of personal independence by the "Achy Breaky Heart" guy's daughter that celebrates ecstasy and cocaine use among other dubious freedoms, a song about the end of the world unfortunately lacking the commitment of science fiction music trailblazer Peter Schilling the video of which involves a Mexican muppet-fighting ring run by Lou Diamond Phillips, a tedious entry from an album titled Magna Carta Holy Grail where you don't understand how a magic cup can be a big charter but whatever, a couple songs with indie-sounding vocals but with driving beats and other electronic flourishes such that you don't understand what the genre's supposed to be or whether genre distinctions really mean anything anymore, a song from a year old movie about being underappreciated accompanied by cup-clicking, and in tenth place a song claiming it's in first.
Would not have predicted most of that.
Would not have predicted most of that.
