Further Mr Robot predictions/surmises:

Operation Berenstain is not just secretly controlled by WR and/or the E Corp CEO so they can find and kill Elliot's hacker friends for knowing too much. WR's mention to Dom of an alternate world where the May 9 hack had never happened suggests the hack will be undone, making it seem like it had never happened, like our Berenstein-world memories. They backed up the debt info, basically. When the debt list is restored to a world where everyone needs to buy into E Coin just to get by ... everyone will immediately need to buy E Coin, which will thus shoot up in value. Before the govt can step in E Corp will own everything. WR wanted just enough chaos to secure his mines in the Congo and no inspections at the American lab thing, but presumably has no interest in a broken global economy otherwise. Mr. Robot, on the other hand, wants E Corp and all it stands for to fall, so he may have come up with some way to hack the un-hack. Will WR be on his side or the CEO's? Maybe Mr. Robot really is Elliot's father - was some sort of prototype paid to see if this abstracted personality thing could really work (hence his telling the mother to not worry about bills, after Elliot falls out of the window), even paid to die, in body, but who afterwards turned against E Corp and promised the brain-in-chip technology to White Rose in exchange for taking it down. If so Angela's mother may be alive in some form too.

Why did WR spare Dom? Killing the interviewers of Goddard was presumably about stopping anyone from finding out about Elliot, either because that would incapacitate him for Stage 2 or bring attention to his motives, thus compromise the American site. Unless it's instead about Goddard's knowing that Wellick was weird about the honeypot. Yeah, if Wellick is alive and wishes to be an E Corp VP after framing Elliot for the entirety of the hack as well as his own murders, Goddard would have needed to die, and anyone knowing what he knew. So he wouldn't want Dom spared. The decision would seem to be WR's alone. He wanted to know what made her tick. She walked out on her fiance (unclear if it was male or female), so maybe something about that? Does he think she'd want to be able to body switch, thinks he can buy her off by offering it? Or what? All we know about her is that she's competent about hacker-y matters, likes and then suddenly dislikes songs about being an outlaw, keeps her FBI stuff sequestered from the rest of her life in an electeonic safe, puts make-up on in a constructed-persona sort of way ... and did she do self-affirmations at some point? She's lonely, trying to conform. An ex-hacker who got caught? She "yadda yaddas" a few years of her life away when telling her story to WR, which would fit. But is it the "I was the highwayman" part of the song that's the problem, or the "man" part? Calls herself Dom. Further evidence she's unhappy as a woman, conceivably, but maybe she's in fact tran and it hasn't worked out as well as she hoped (related to thst frustrating, aborted-looking masturbation session?). Perhaps WR can offer the real thing. Which would negate my surmisings about the clock - that what was cheap and common for people in her "land" was supremely rare and precious in his. Could the clock mean something other than "being a woman"? Maybe the issue is that the knockoff IS a knockoff - looks like the real thing, as she certainly looks female, but doesn't work as well?

Yes wildly interesting surmises. I like all of this. I assume the clock obsession will be explained at some point.

Have you thought through the many different ways "he's a master" can be read? Got thoughts on it?

No idea. Where'd the phrase occur? In my theory the Elliot we know was created to be the ultimate hacker. Mr. Robot may be the original Elliot.

It's from when Darlene was listening in on the audio conversation. "Be careful - he's a master." Or something.

Oh, riiiight. Yeah, that was interesting. Does White Rose not know Elliot's partitioned? They only met briefly, IIRC.
