I think my hometown is in danger of starting to exist. The football, these elections, the incompetent sniper, TV exposure on Jon Stewart, the minimum wage episode of 30 Days (best episode of anything ever televised, even tops The Office 1.4). But it will always need the state name, won't it? It's one word to anyone from elsewhere, Columbusohio. Not sure why it deserves that, since no one has ever been to Columbus, Georgia and lived to tell. Maybe the small town designation will keep it pleasant.

In these parts, Columbus is Columbus. We spent a night there recently en route to Boston (cheap direct flight, and I was under the illusion that it's only 2 hrs driving. wasn't that wrong.) and saw DeVotchka open for Dresden Dolls. It was amazing. But that plus the Drury Inn didn't yield much of a sense of the place. For those of us south of it, Columbus is accessible civilization. Bring on the Applebees.
